Hamas statement, February 20, 2024

Date
Feb. 20, 2024
Body

“We in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemn in the strongest terms the use of the US President Joe Biden’s administration’s veto against the Algerian draft resolution in the Security Council, demanding an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons and rejecting forced displacement. We consider the failure of this resolution to be a disruption of international will in service of the Nazi occupation’s agenda aimed at killing and displacing our Palestinian people.

“President Joe Biden and his administration bear direct responsibility for obstructing the issuance of a decision to stop the aggression against Gaza. The American position is a green light for the occupation to commit more massacres, and to kill our defenseless people through bombing and starvation, and a direct partnership in the war of extermination that it is committing against children and defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip.”“**Press Statement**|,” Hamas Online Telegram Channel, February 20, 2024.

Fact:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel where, in the space of eight hours, hundreds of armed terrorists perpetrated mass crimes of brutality, rape, and torture against men, women and children. In the biggest attack on Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, 1,200 were killed, and 251 were taken hostage into Gaza—where 101 remain. One year on, antisemitic incidents have increased by record numbers.
