On August 3, 2021, a suicide car bomber and gunmen targeted the Kabul home of Afghanistan’s acting defense minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi. Although Mohammadi was not at home at the time of the attack, the explosion killed eight and wounded 20 others. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

 On July 30, 2021, gunmen attacked a funeral in Iraq’s Salahuddin province, killing at least eight people. A local security official accused ISIS of responsibility.

On July 31, 2021, a man from a Sunni tribe in the town of Khaldeh, Lebanon, opened fire at a wedding party, killing Hezbollah fighter Ali Chebli. The attack on the wedding party was reportedly revenge for Chebli allegedly killing a 15-year-old relative of the shooter.

On June 26, 2022, Taliban fighters carried out a night raid, allegedly in search of a former security official, on a home in Ghor province. At least six Hazara people were killed. The attack was part of a pattern of targeted killings of minority groups and those associated with the former Afghan government.

On July 25, 2018, a suicide bomber detonated outside of a polling station in Quetta, during polling for the 2018 Pakistani general election. The attack killed 31 people and injured at least 35. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

On June 22, 2018, three days before general elections in Pakistan, a suicide bombing killed Ikramullah Gandapur, a candidate running for a seat in the provincial assembly, as well as his driver and a guard. Tehrik-i-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

On May 8, 2019, Taliban insurgents detonated an explosive-laden vehicle and then broke into American NGO Counterpart International’s offices in Kabul. At least seven people were killed and 24 were injured.
