ARCHER at House 88 Opens to March of the Living Guests with Symbolic Mezuzah Ceremony Honoring Jewish Resilience

(Oświęcim, Poland) – The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) is proud to welcome visitors participating in this year’s March of the Living to ARCHER at House 88, the former residence of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss, for a unique and symbolic act of remembrance and resilience on April 24th, 2025 between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm, prior to the March.

The March of the Living is an annual educational program that brings students and adults from around the world to Poland, where they march along the 3-kilometer path from Auschwitz to Birkenau on Holocaust Remembrance Day. The program is a powerful tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and a commitment to fighting antisemitism.

ARCHER at House 88 is a newly reclaimed site for education, research and advocacy. In conjunction with this year’s March, visitors for the first time will be invited to touch a mezuzah affixed by CEP at the entrance of House 88—a symbolic act underscoring Jewish survival, memory, and the rejection of hatred in the very place where the Holocaust was orchestrated. 

Visitors will also be able to attend a virtual presentation of the latest ARCHER report, The Role of Antisemitism in the Mobilization to Violence by Extremist and Terrorist Actors, which was commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, CEO and Founder of CEP, said:  

“In affixing the mezuzah, we affirm that even in the darkest corners of history, Jewish life, memory, and resilience endures. ARCHER at House 88 stands not only as a witness to past horrors, but as a new and active space for truth, testimony, transformation and resistance against antisemitism, extremism and terrorism.”

As part of our programming around the March of the Living, CEP will also welcome several notable guests and delegations to House 88:

  • A group of prominent Israeli TikTok creators will tour the house on the morning of April 24th. 

  • Gerald Sander, the grandson of Sophie Stippel—a Jewish woman from Mannheim and childhood acquaintance of Höss, who was forced to work in the Höss household while imprisoned in Auschwitz—will visit House 88 between April 23rd and 25th, together with a representative of the Mannheim city archive (MARCHIVUM). CEP is in discussions with MARCHIVUM to deepen historical cooperation and public understanding of personal stories like Stippel’s.

  • CEP also extended an invitation to various heads of state and delegations expected to attend the March of the Living to visit ARCHER at House 88 following the event. The residence will be open to additional visiting groups on April 25th, the day after the March.
