CEP Statement On Knife Attack In Lübeck, Germany

(New York, NY) – Counter Extremism Project (CEP) Executive Director David Ibsen released the following statement in response to the knife attack today in Lübeck, Germany that wounded 14 people:

“While all the facts surrounding today’s tragedy are not yet known, what is clear is that violence has become all too common in today’s world. Our research has uncovered recent instances of horrific ISIS videos circulating on YouTube that depict knife tactics performed on a human target and offering advice on the best weapons to use. The video remained on the platform for hours, even after CEP reported the video to YouTube. Content such as this is capable of inspiring acts like the one that occurred today and others around the world. It is time for the tech companies to recognize that their lack of meaningful action can lead to violence and tragedy that cannot be explained away..”

Extremists: Their Words. Their Actions.

Fact:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel where, in the space of eight hours, hundreds of armed terrorists perpetrated mass crimes of brutality, rape, and torture against men, women and children. In the biggest attack on Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, 1,200 were killed, and 251 were taken hostage into Gaza—where 101 remain. One year on, antisemitic incidents have increased by record numbers.
