Counter Extremism Project Condemns Attack at National Bardo Museum in Tunisia

(New York, NY) – The following is a statement from Fran Townsend, President of the Counter Extremism Project:

“The Counter Extremism Project condemns the horrifying attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunisia. This murderous incident at one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations killed at least 20 people and injured 50 more.  The victims included citizens from Italy, Spain, Poland, Colombia, Germany and other nations. Our thoughts today are with the Tunisian people and the friends and families of the victims of this tragedy. This incident demonstrates the depravity and cruelty of the extremist threat and its growth in the region. Even the U.S., for example, has been forced to halt diplomatic services at its embassies in Saudi Arabia and Djibouti recently due to the ongoing threats of violence.  It is time to unite to put an end to these random acts of terror and violence, and to global extremism. The Counter Extremism Project is committed to being part of the solution by revealing and holding accountable the individuals, businesses, institutions and governments that play a role in supporting extremism.”

Extremists: Their Words. Their Actions.

Fact:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel where, in the space of eight hours, hundreds of armed terrorists perpetrated mass crimes of brutality, rape, and torture against men, women and children. In the biggest attack on Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, 1,200 were killed, and 251 were taken hostage into Gaza—where 101 remain. One year on, antisemitic incidents have increased by record numbers.
