Counter Extremism Project Condemns Attack in Nice, France

(New York, NY) – The Counter Extremism Project released the following statement today in response to the gruesome attack in Nice, France:

"The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) strongly condemns tonight's horrific terrorist attack on a crowd of people gathered in the French city of Nice on Bastille Day – a day that honors the unity of the French people. In all its forms, the grave threat of extremism must be halted by an even greater, more relentless effort to prevent such carnage. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."

On April 3, 2017, the day Vladimir Putin was due to visit the city, a suicide bombing was carried out in the St. Petersburg metro, killing 15 people and injuring 64. An al-Qaeda affiliate, Imam Shamil Battalion, claimed responsibility.
