CEP Senior Research Analyst Josh Lipowsky writes: "While investigators have blamed Hezbollah and its Iranian backers for the heinous terror attack, even now, 30 years later, justice has remained elusive for the victims of the AMIA bombing. No arrests have been made. Hezbollah remains a threat to global security. And Iran continues to sponsor terrorism around the world."
CEP Senior Research Analyst Josh Lipowsky interviewed: "Mr. Lipowsky’s work focuses primarily on antisemitism and on Iran-backed terrorism, including terrorism committed by Hezbollah, Hamas, and militias in Iraq. He has seen a significant rise in antisemitism in the United States in recent months. “Since Hamas’s attack on October 7 and the resulting war, we have seen an explosion of antisemitism in this country related to protests surrounding the war,” he said. “A lot of these protests are, at their core, focusing more on hating Israel than helping the Palestinians. At its core, it is largely being driven by antisemitism.
Today, in commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel (Yom HaShoah), the Counter Extremism Project (CEP), including more than one dozen signatories from CEP’s board of global leaders and experts, is officially endorsing the International...
On April 27, 2019, 19-year-old John Earnest broke into a Chabad synagogue in Poway, California, as about 100 congregants marked the Jewish Sabbath and the last day of Passover. Firing an AR-15 –style automatic rifle, Earnest killed 60-year-old Lori...
On Saturday, amid surging antisemitism around the world, Americans will mark the fifth anniversary of the deadly shooting at the Chabad of Poway, California, which killed one and injured three. In the five years since that horrific attack...
CEP Senior Advisor Ian Acheson writes: "Why did Gideon Falter cross the road? Or try to? That is a question that went viral this weekend. A video emerged of Falter, who leads the Campaign Against Antisemitism, being threatened by police for trying to cross a pro-Palestinian protest in central London. He was wearing a kippah and carrying a prayer shawl bag, and had reportedly just emerged from a synagogue with some friends and was trying to get home. Police officers had spotted him leaving the pavement on a collision course with protestors and intervened. A tense standoff unfolded, with an officer telling him in that his ‘openly Jewish’ appearance was ‘antagonising’ the crowd. A calamitous initial response by the Metropolitan Police which, in effect, said that being recognisably Jewish was ‘provocative’ compounded calls for the force’s beleaguered boss Sir Mark Rowley to resign."

“Unfortunately, what’s old is new again with anti-Semitism at its highest levels in the United States in decades. But now the bad guys don’t all wear recognizable brown shirts or white hoods anymore. Anti-Semites have changed their language and tactics in an attempt to legitimize their odious views,” said Lipowsky."
On February 5, 2024, CEP Senior Research Analyst Josh Lipowsky led a course for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State University entitled "Understanding Antisemitism."
Antisemitism is at its highest levels in the United States in decades, and the bad guys don’t all wear recognizable brown shirts and swastikas anymore. This course will give participants a better understanding of historic antisemitism and why it is on the rise now. Together we will look at how antisemitism has manifested in recent years while exploring common themes that have repeated throughout history, which will empower participants to recognize and confront it. Please note this course will be recorded for the instructor’s use and will be posted online with the Counter Extremism Project.

Extremists: Their Words. Their Actions.
Fact:
On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel where, in the space of eight hours, hundreds of armed terrorists perpetrated mass crimes of brutality, rape, and torture against men, women and children. In the biggest attack on Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, 1,200 were killed, and 251 were taken hostage into Gaza—where 101 remain. One year on, antisemitic incidents have increased by record numbers.
